The United States Army recognized the value of having Code Talkers on the battlefield and created a program specifically for the needs of Native Americans. Native American men were selected for the Code Talker program from reservations throughout the country. There were many concerns about whether or not the selected men would be accepted for the program and whether or not they would be able to pass the rigorous training.
