The one issue many players have with mods is learning how to actually download and install them so they work in-game. The process can be confusing for players who might not be the most tech-savvy. Also, there's the challenge of figuring out which mods to install in 2022, a full nine years after the game was originally released. Below, players can see exactly how to download mods in GTA V and which ones they should consider installing first.

Before players can get into which mods they should install, they need to know how to download them. It should be noted that players can only use mods in single-player, as Rockstar Games had forbidden the use of mods in GTA Online. If players attempt to enter GTA Online with mods enabled, they're subject to a ban.
What this process essentially does is give players a place to download and manage their GTA V mods. Players can open the OpenIV application at any time to check the status of their mods, uninstall them, or modify them. The next part of the process is finding physical mods to download.
When looking for mods to download, the choices can be almost overwhelming. There are several categories and thousands of mods to pick within each one of those categories. Most mods come in one of two formats: .ASI or .DLL. Some mods will say which they are in their description, but you'll always be able to tell by opening the file you download and checking what's inside.
Quick tip: If you're downloading a .LUA file, move it into the addins folder that you created inside of the scripts folder. But if your LUA mod comes with its own addins folder, just move everything to the scripts folder.

To download GTA 5 on Mac, you must have Windows installed on the computer. This can be done either through Parallels or Boot Camp, as is shown in the guides below. Note the Boot Camp option only works on Intel machines and Parallels works on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. Once you have Windows installed, you can download the Windows version of GTA 5 on your Mac and play locally.
But there are a few issues with this, and they serve to point out how digital downloads of games on consoles still have a long ways to go in terms of convenience, and why people are so adamant about wanting to keep their discs. In the case of GTA 5, the file size is just absolutely massive. For PlayStation 3, it's 36 GB of space needed. 17-18 GB will be taken up on your hard drive to play the game when all is said and done, but 36 GB are required initially to install the game, and that's what you'll be downloading all night.
This is a problem for many reasons. First and foremost, the fact that there's no day-before preload for GTA 5 in the US hamstrings the convenience of this entire process. Therefore, depending on your internet connection speed, the game might not even be done by morning if you were planning on playing as early as possible. Second, if you're randomly disconnected from PSN in the dead of night, you'll have to resume things the next day at who knows what percentage level of completion (as my PSN/internet drops out frequently, I can easily see this happening). This may also happen if the PSN servers crash with everyone trying to download such a massive file at once with no preload. Additionally, your PS3 might not have 36 GB of free space if it's an old model or full of other games and DLC. And lastly, if you live in the US where this "digital midnight launch" is taking place, you may have an ISP with bandwidth limits, meaning the download is a big bite out of your monthly allowance.
To some, these issues might not be issues, and digital download could be the way to go. But for many, a five minute drive to Gamestop either at midnight, bright and early in the morning, or after work or school is more convenient than waiting for a big download.
It will be interesting to see how this works when we reach the next generation of systems. Yes, GTA 5 is an unusual case because it's supposedly one of the physically biggest games out this console generation in terms of content. But what happens when next-gen games are all this size or larger? The US at least isn't going to see an immediate, dramatic spike in internet reliability or download speeds if history provides any sort of lesson. Will it actually be more convenient to download these massive files instead of a quick trip to the store for a disc?
There could be a saving grace in the form of technology that allows players to play games as they're downloading, an ability both the PS4 and Xbox One have touted, which could eliminate many of the headaches involving large-scale digital downloads. But we'll have to see how well this actually works, as it's hard to imagine the process will be completely glitch-free right off the bat.
