How to Download Split APK Installer

What is Split APK Installer?

Split APK Installer (SAI) is an Android app that lets you install split APKs (such as ones distributed as Android App Bundles). It has both rooted and rootless installation methods. It also has simple app backup/export functionality.

Why do you need Split APK Installer?

Android App Bundles are a new way of packaging and delivering apps that are more optimized and efficient than traditional APKs. However, they are not compatible with some devices or platforms that do not support Google Play Services or Dynamic Delivery. For example, if you want to sideload an app that is only available as an Android App Bundle, you will not be able to install it using the default package installer. You will need a tool like SAI that can handle split APKs and install them properly.

How does Split APK Installer work?

Split APK Installer works by extracting the base APK and the required split APKs from the Android App Bundle file and installing them as a single app. It can also detect the device's configuration and install only the relevant split APKs for the device's language, screen size, CPU architecture, etc. This way, it can reduce the app size and save storage space.

How to download and install Split APK Installer?

Download from Google Play Store

The easiest way to get SAI is to download it from the Google Play Store. Just search for "Split APKs Installer" or use this link: Split APKs Installer (SAI) - Apps on Google Play. Then, tap on the Install button and wait for the app to be downloaded and installed.

Download from GitHub

If you want to get the latest version of SAI or check its source code, you can download it from GitHub. Just go to this link: GitHub - Aefyr/SAI: Android split APKs installer. Then, tap on the Releases tab and choose the latest release. You will see a list of files with different extensions. Download the one that ends with .apk (not .apks) and install it on your device.

Download from other sources

If you cannot access the Google Play Store or GitHub, you can also download SAI from other sources such as third-party app stores or websites. However, be careful when downloading apps from unknown sources as they may contain malware or viruses. Always check the app permissions and reviews before installing them. Also, make sure that you enable the Unknown Sources option in your device settings to allow installation of apps from outside the Google Play Store.

How to use Split APK Installer?

Once you have installed SAI on your device, you can use it to install split APKs in three different ways:

Install split APKs using standard Android API

This is the default and recommended method of installing split APKs using SAI. It does not require root access or any special permissions. It works by using the standard Android API to install the split APKs as a single app. To use this method, follow these steps: - Open SAI and tap on the Install APKs button. - Select the split APK file (.apks, .apkm, .xapk, or .zip) that you want to install. You can also select multiple files at once. - Tap on the Select button and then on the Install button. - Wait for the installation to complete and then tap on the Done button. Install split APKs using root access

This method of installing split APKs using SAI requires root access on your device. It works by using the root privileges to install the split APKs directly to the system partition. This may be faster and more reliable than the standard method, but it also has some risks and limitations. To use this method, follow these steps: - Open SAI and tap on the Settings icon in the top right corner. - Enable the Rooted Installer option and grant SAI root access when prompted. - Tap on the Install APKs button and select the split APK file that you want to install. - Tap on the Select button and then on the Install button. - Wait for the installation to complete and then tap on the Done button. Install split APKs using Shizuku mode

This method of installing split APKs using SAI requires another app called Shizuku Manager. Shizuku Manager is an app that provides system-level app management features without root access. It works by using a hidden API that is normally used by system apps. To use this method, follow these steps: - Download and install Shizuku Manager from Shizuku Manager - Apps on Google Play or GitHub - RikkaApps/Shizuku: Use system APIs with appops or adb. - Open Shizuku Manager and follow the instructions to start the service. You may need to enable USB debugging and connect your device to a computer via USB cable. - Open SAI and tap on the Settings icon in the top right corner. - Enable the Shizuku Installer option and grant SAI permission to use Shizuku when prompted. - Tap on the Install APKs button and select the split APK file that you want to install. - Tap on the Select button and then on the Install button. - Wait for the installation to complete and then tap on the Done button. How to backup and export apps using Split APK Installer?

SAI also has a simple app backup/export functionality that lets you save your installed apps as split APK files. You can use this feature to backup your apps or share them with others. To use this feature, follow these steps:

Backup apps to .apks files

This feature lets you backup your installed apps as .apks files, which are zip files containing all the split APKs of an app. To use this feature, follow these steps: - Open SAI and tap on the Backup icon in the bottom right corner. - Select the apps that you want to backup. You can also filter them by name or type (system or user). - Tap on the Backup button and choose a destination folder for your backup files. - Wait for the backup process to complete and then tap on the Done button. Export apps to .apkm or .xapk files

This feature lets you export your installed apps as .apkm or .xapk files, which are compressed files containing all the split APKs of an app. These formats are supported by some third-party app stores or websites. To use this feature, follow these steps: - Open SAI and tap on the Backup icon in the bottom right corner. - Select the apps that you want to export. You can also filter them by name or type (system or user). - Tap on the Export button and choose a destination folder and a file format (.apkm or .xapk) for your export files. - Wait for the export process to complete and then tap on the Done button. Conclusion

In this article, we have learned what Split APK Installer (SAI) is, why we need it, how it works, and how to download and use it. We have also learned how to backup and export apps using SAI. SAI is a useful tool for installing apps that are distributed as Android App Bundles or split APKs. It has both rooted and rootless installation methods, as well as simple app backup/export functionality. It is easy to use and compatible with most Android devices.
